Gee, I don't have a favorite one. Maybe someday I'll visit Amalfi...a romantic notion I have.

Certainly, a great beach should have driftwood on it for good sleeping structures and campfires. It should be secluded when it needs to be, an intimate beach, but then, it should be readily accessible to those who know how to get there.

I suspect that there are some nice beaches in Hawaiian Island chain.

There was a beach in Delaware I visited in 2002 that I can't remember the name of that was quite nice. Another in North Carolina.

Actually, now that I think about it, I used to love this beach that was approximately 10 miles south of Half Moon Bay in California--used to walk dogs on it and you had to scramble down a slop to get to it since the owners of the homes and shacks off of it illegally refused access to folks. It had whispering sands, driftwood, flotsam, wildlife, artist shacks, a pink house just off the beach, a secret parking spot. Always an adventure and always satisfying.

I've been to Fraser Island--its almost all beach and very, very long.

I want to go to 80 Mile Beach in Western Australia before I can really make a determination.

Byron Bay is nice.

1. Dreamland, Bali
2. Can't remember the name of the actual beach, but it was the smaller of the two Perhenthian Islands - off the East coast of Malaysia - great snorkelling!
3. Thailand - again, can't remember the name of the place, but it's where all the full moon parties happen - great milkshakes ;)
