Yesterday, I went to the beach with a six year old who had never been. It was amazing to watch them get the bug to collecting things, ignore the incoming waves, getting really wet. Showed her how to get the sand crabs out of the sand at the shore--she was ecstatic, although we felt bad about me killing one by accident on the first try.

Pockets full of rocks and pieces of shell, etc, we left.

Still have to go back when the weather is better and perform the ritual burial in the sand baptism, building sand castles, etc. Hope I'm there for it!

I'm now trying to think back to my first time at the beach...it must have been when I was very young...
